Goodbye 2018, hello 2019!

2018 was a turbulent year, but 2019 promises even more developments. In the beginning of 2018 I was determined to make it ‘my year’, especially in connection with the recent ‘coming out’ as transgender (see this blog or this guestblog for Mark it Zero!). I was also determined I’d live in the wagon in April …

Almost 6 months

Already almost 6 months I’m taking testosterone. To be exact I’m on day 134 today. Yeah, I do keep track. Especially because else I’ll forget all together, and now I’ve got an answer when people ask how long I’m taking it now. Saves me lots of counting and thinking… ‘How are you doing’ I’m quite …

Installing Anevay stove

… At the end of 2017 I got in contact with Anevay again, convinced I was almost ready to install the stove. They had created the Shepherd by then, an even smaller stove, ideal for a small space like min with its 1.8 Kw power. It arrived in the beginning of 2018, and I can now, end of 2018, finally say: she has been installed! Here you’ll find a description of how I did that, and how you could (and shouldn’t) do it too…

Being an inexperienced builder

I am an inexperienced builder. Before starting to build this wagon, I had only build some small things under the experienced guidance of my school teacher. So I did have some basic knowledge, a logical sense of direction so to say, but nothing major. Building this wagon is all learning along the way, learning from …

This physical journey which I’ll have, I do it becáuse I get so frustrated of the world: if I make sure I’m okay in my own body, than the world can think whatever they like. At least I’m myself, with whom I’m happy.

Receiving guests, living and traveling on 8 square meter

Dagblad van het Noorden – 24/10/2017 – Eelste Abels (27) from Eexterzandvoort has a dream: traveling the world with her self build Tiny House XS, a sort living wagon pulled by a horse. Upcoming spring she’ll start. Who wants, can travel along. On the drive way next the the house of her parents in Eexterzandvoort Eelste Abels (27) looks at a large wood skeleton on wheels. “Befóre the winter it should have a roof, and walls”, she says, while stepping on the the old trailer via a stairs. “The skeleton has to be waterproof as soon as possible, so I can work inside the wagon.” With a drill in her hand she points at the corners of the construction. “Here will be the composttoilet, there the stove and in the back a bed.”
Its her dream, on which she’s been working for week already. Literally. With a drill, screws and nails. The skeleton on wheels has to become a Tiny House XS, or a Bed & Wagon. The name, she hasn’t quite decided yet.
At least horses will draw the mini-house, so Eelste can travel around Europe with it. And the idea is that guests travel along. “Receiving guests, living and traveling on 8 square meter.”, Eelste summarizes. Her eye lit up, just like her yellow jacket. With the dark cowboy hat, she radiates adventure.
“For a long time it was plan B, about which I’d dream, while writing my thesis.”, she tells. “Plan A was to promote, but when that didn’t went through, plan B became véry serious.”

Tiny Houses in Drenthe still little concrete

What BZN, Herman Brood, The Trammps and George Baker have to do with the wagon… [video’s]

When I started this adventure I wanted to use a lot of second hand material: giving that a second life, and saving in money, seemed like a good idea. I found some second hand multiplex for the bottom, and bought 3 of the 6 plates this man had for sale. What turned out to be, …

Guestblog: person of ideas

‘Traveling around with horse and wagon. How lovely is that?’

The time to work out is coming up!

Well yeah, it really is! The time to work out is coming up soon: the flowers started blooming, birds are singing and in between the raindrops the sun starts to shine warmly. In other words: spring is coming. What does this mean for the project? Well, that I’ll be able to start working on building …

Autumn is giving life [video]

It’s true, autumn is giving life. Sounds super alternative, but at the moment I’m busy with all that my parents garden has to give us.
